its called strategy to sell more consoles. Also, to make other console players that dont like 360's even more mad(those people that dont like or want 360s may like halo 1/2 from friend or somethhing), halo 3 is SUPPOSEDLY coming out the same date as the ps3.

Well... Alot of people seem to hate microsoft and the xbox. But why shouldn't they? They have every right to. However, I think some things should be taken into consideration. Theoretically, only one xbox360 would have had to be defective. Then fanboys would do the rest by blowing it out of proportion. I wouldn't put it past people to try to sabotage a company by spamming forums with "CrashBox" labels and stuff like that.

She declined to say how many reports Microsoft had received and said that calls reporting the issue to the company represented a "very, very small fraction" of units sold.

http://www.engadget.com/entry/1234000773070605/ , wait wait another one , http://www.blackfriarsinc.com/blog/2...old-three.html also, sony not making that mistake is very 99% unreal, every single consoles/electronics sold in the history has had defected/glitches in them, most popular, except 360, is the ipod nano, mine works fine, others have defected ones, life just isnt perfect.

yes. the point is tho... u pay.. idk how much 500(??) for a next gen system and it burns out on u.. i mean comeon.. u say its 99% unreal for other not to make mistakes.. but when i got my new ps2( and omg was it so leet back then) when it first came out.. it was perfect! i heard nothing bad about it.. 4 yrs later is when it started to die on me sadly...
still the point is it burned out. and agian i believe they under exaggerating the fact that 3% has failed.. and i mean no recall(unreal to me they havent yet)! wtf microsoft? i would have recalled every last one of the systems to recheck them for any errors even if they didnt have any.... i mean comeon now.. 500 dont fall form a tree...
3% may not sound like alot but 3% of the world..... i would be a pretty pissed consumer.
i bet the executives at sony laugh at microsoft
nuff said im going to bed

good point, BUT, all the people that has bought the 360s did not take the poll, ALSO, those who did probably are the ones with the problems, becuz i dont know why a person would look up(if u had to idk if u did or not) a poll like that if their system was working fine. also, the people that did take the poll and answered "No problems" were one of those people that go on yahoo, and do alot of things, like my motha

It said about 600 people had reported no trouble. That tells me that there was a damn good amount of people without glitching systems participating in the polls and records.

Well it brings people to that same question:
on a scale of er... 0 and 1... does every console come glitched with problems? The answer is a yes (1), as most people massively overhype launches and get crappy ones instead of WAITING to get a better one, with more games and better software.
I mean, look at the XBOX. It came out with a massive plate with buttons on and nobody could wield it. 9 months down the line and they start putting in the smaller and lightr Controller Type-S's in the console box. And only a few games were good during launch... Halo, Jet Set Radio Future, Sega GT 2002 (No Live, then again most games weren't at launch) were to name a few.
Moving SLIGHTLY off this topic and has anyone looked at the pre-Beta2 screenshots of Windows Vista? There was one shot of a computer (working normally) that had over 4 MILLION ERRORS! and there is now NO control panel to change the settings.
So, what I'm saying is, WAIT a while rather than rushing in like herds of cattle jumping into icy water, or for the more thoughtful, keep with the old systems.

Well...
Tommy Tellerico (G4's Judgement Day) said it best. The current Gen (referring to PS2, NGC, & XBox 1) are showing enough promise that jumping to next gen at this time is a bit premature.
Honestly,
Look at Half-Life 2, Doom 3, PsiOps, and other games that really push the envelope.
First... we'll take God of War, Soul Calibur 3, PsiOps, and Shadow of the Colossus. Excellent graphics on all of them. I never would've guessed PS2 was capable of some of the things I've seen in those games.
Now, take Ninja Gaiden Black, Half-Life 2, and Doom 3 (Cant' think of many others). Those games look pretty good considering the XBox is only 700 Mhz (might be a little off, but I remember it's around 700Mhz). Now consider that the PC versions require at least 2Ghz to run smoothly at the lowest stettings (of the PC ports). At the end of the day, XBox isn't doing too bad. It's not up to par with PC, but it's doing VERY well on its own.
Lets not forget Nintendo. Despite the fact they mostly focus on cartoony art styles, games like Metriod Prime have really surprised me with what the cube can do.
Now, before I continue, I must sound like a graphic monger (not sure if I can say graphic Wh()re or not, but that's the most common term). To be honest, some of my favorite titles have just crappy presentation. They're not even last gen. Still, it's all about play. Some of the best graphics are on games that have horrible play. For instance, The Bouncer (Square/Enix). Looked really sweet, but most people couldn't stand it. I enjoyed it, but at $50, the game offered almost no replay value. At the end of the day, you were watching more FMV's than playing. Is that really what gaming should be? Pretty without the play to back it?
Can you honestly say that Guild Wars would have such a following if it featured a jakked up control and nearly unplayable magic/skill system?
The biggest problem I see is the willingness of players to move on to the next big thing. Again, it's like herding sheep. The best example is Final Fantasy. There have been some bad games with the "Final Fantasy" name on them, but people have defended them b/c of their fanboyism and blind loyalty to a company that doesn't even know they exsist. Take Crystal Chronicals for example. Not much replay or value with that game at all (got it for my wife some time ago and she only played it for a little bit then got bored). Yet, I stated what was wrong with the game and I had some major fan start threatenning me.
The same has happenned with the 360. The guy I work with who's 360 is among the many defective still defends his product saying that it's teh best launch ever and there's nothing wrong with the system, yet he complains of slowdowns and in game errors (just like the ones making news headlines).
To be honest, I pity such blind followers.

PS2 wasn't the best either. It had limitted supply and you had the blue DVD error (where it'd randomly stop reading the Blue/purple backed DVD games). Honestly, there hasn't been a successful system to be "first of the next gen" in over 10 years.
Dream Cast had few flaws, but ultimately failed b/c it was easy to hack and SEGA was bleeding money from PICO, Saturn, 32X, SEGA CD, & Game Gear. All failed systems (for the most part).
Still...
Sony did live up to the hype better than the 360, but there were no really good launch titles for the PS2. (360 lacks good launch as well. Especially when it comes to exclusives)
